Halloween coming back to theaters

John Carpenter's classic horror film Halloween is getting a re-release this October, and, frankly, I couldn't be happier about it. With all the reboots, reshuffles, remakes and revamps that have plagued theaters over the past decade and a half, it's good to see some original masterpieces being put back in front of audiences. With Raiders of the Lost Ark doing gang-buster business in its recent IMAX re-release and subsequent extended run, it's nice to think that more studios may actually be jumping on this trend, which seems to me a more honest business practice than simply cashing in on a film property by tacking on an inferior remake or quickie sequel.

A new generation of movie fans seeing the original Halloween for the first time deserve the chance to experience it in a darkened theater, and hopefully more classics will follow. They've certainly got a long list to work off of.
