First Lone Ranger pic less exciting than supporting cast

Today was the first day I found myself even marginally excited about Disney's upcoming redo of The Lone Ranger. No, it's not because producer Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted the first photo of stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in costume. It's because I found out William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson and James Badge Dale are all in the cast, which is infinitely more interesting that whatever dead-bird getup Depp's sporting on his head. In fact, can we ditch the Lone Ranger stuff entirely and just get a straight-forward western where aging bandit Fichtner teams up with upstart gunslinger Dale to take down evil mine baron Wilkinson? Now, that would be a film I'd really be jazzed about.
