Swarm and fuzzy: The World War Z trailer

I'm very on the fence about the above trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Max Brooks's seminal zombie epic World War Z. I do like the general feel of it. Scenes of a zombie outbreak set near its beginning always make me uneasy, and I think they've done a good job here with instilling that sense of panic and general confusion that a situation like this would undoubtedly be mired in. I'm also digging this whole "swarm" attack thing that serves as the trailer's highlight. That's something I've never really seen done in a zombie flick before.

Still, blatantly obvious CGI is never going to be anything other than blatantly obvious CGI, and what didn't work for I Am Legend is equally as ineffective here. There's also the specter of the film's troubled production hanging over this. Rewrites and reshooting were still taking place at recently as last month, not to mention the rumor that producer and star Brad Pitt is currently not on speaking terms with director Marc Forster. How these things will effect the end result is anybody's guess. In the meantime, check out the trailer and let us know what you think.
